Monday Joy

So Maelie and I had an entire day today with nothing planned other than her nap.

That’s actually pretty rare.

However, I do have a commitment on Saturday afternoon that I needed to get some things for, so I packed up the girl and took her to Target and Michael’s.

Target was what it always is, and it was quick.

Michael’s. Um, I can’t really remember the last time I’ve been in there, which is probably a good thing judging by the amount I spent.

Oh. My. Goodness.

How have I gone THIS long without that store and all the wonders hidden inside

?

I’m not really a crafter, but I am somewhat artistic, and I do like to paint and make jewelry.

I went in there to buy some paint for a project I’m helping someone with.

I came out? With a canvas (and not a small one, either), five bottles of paint, a package of paintbrushes, new jewelry making supplies (to replace what I had to leave in Indo) and some beads. Oh, and a new 2012 day planner, which I actually needed. AND it was only a buck…can’t pass that up! (Insert laugh. I’m laughing, go ahead and join me.) 😀

I came home so excited to start… well, doing something.

Today I painted drinking glasses. Some of them turned out cute…a couple, I’m scraping the paint off and trying again.

Seriously… how cute is this

?

Wouldn’t YOU want to drink out of this?

I would. In fact, I just might.

This week I’m going to work on that painting I’ve been meaning to do for Maelie’s room for, oh, months.

I also made a pair of earrings today for a friend, but I decided I need more beads before I can make more things.

By now you’re thinking…what does all of this have to do with joy

?

Well…the last time I really did anything artistic was before I got pregnant with Mae. I had been warned by a friend that my creativity would probably disappear during pregnancy, and it did, but lately I’ve been starting to wonder if it would ever come back.

Today was a good sign.

:)

That makes me pretty happy.

Hoping you found some JOY in your Monday, too.

:)

I Love Random

So…I am always random. Today, more than other days.

Bear with me, k? (You know you love reading the crazy things that shoot through my brain anyway, right?) 😉

This is my very favorite time of year.

I love, love, love seeing the leaves change colors. While that is just beginning here, we saw some re ally

beautiful colors in Wisconsin this weekend. I also love jeans-and-sweater weather. Perfect.

We were talking about movies tonight at my weekly work out with friends, and I mentioned that I’d like to take hip hop lessons.

I really don’t know why…but I think it would be fun to learn how to dance.

Maelie and I have moved on from Little House on the Prairie to my other TV addiction, Road to Avonlea. Probably my favorite show ever. And I will actually loan it out if any of you ever want to watch it. It’s fun. :)

Speaking of the Mae…she fell on her head today.

Seriously. It was a 3-4 foot fall off of some playground equipment.

She cried. I freaked out.

Thankfully, after lots of phone calls and questions, she seems to be ok. We’ re watching her for signs of a concussion.

And praying. I’d love it if you prayed, too.

I think it broke my mommy heart to see my little girl hurting.

I desperately need to repaint our front room.

I’m kinda thinking of doing a multi-color, random design with blue and lime green and orange. It’s the room our piano is in and definitely needs to be livened up a bit. We shall see what I come up with.

Tomorrow I am going to (hopefully) chat with a local newspaper editor about heading a different direction with my writing. I’ll stick with my blog (not sure I could ever give it up!) but have some other opportunities, too.

I’m anxious. But excited, too. I really,

really want to write.

I’ve been sitting at the computer for half an hour…and realized I never showered when I got home from working out.

That’s kinda gross, huh

? Guess I better end this and hit the shower.

Love you all.

Little Blessings (Pt. 9)

:) A good weekend with family.

:) Dancing. I am not good, but

I danced anyway.

Yay for me!

:) Watching two people commit their love

to each other forever.

Congrats, Mike and Annie!

:) Getting to sit in some pretty stinkin’ comfy, cushy chairs during the wedding. (Yes…in not on… they got married in the Legislative room at the Capitol building.

You know those chairs all those important people sit IN

? Yep, we’re so cool.)

:) A sunny morning walk and a chance to get to know one of my nieces better.

:) A beautiful day.

Really, really BEAUTIFUL.

:) Being loved. And learning to love.

:) Being encouraged by God’s promises.

Random Things I Love

I love it when it rains in the morning and I get to run in it. ‘Cause that’ s ju

st fun.

And then I love it when it clears up so Pumpkin Days can still happen. That was fun, too.

I love it that my girl got to play in the jumpy today and that she really had no idea what to do. She just crawled around, giggled, fell over a few times…and made us laugh.

Precious.

I love it that sometimes the smallest word of encouragement can make my (or someone else’s) day.

I love chocolate. Really. But I have survived the week without it with the exception of my chocolate FLAVORED protein shakes. And I’m still alive.

I love to juggle. But I found out today that I cannot juggle rings. Bummer.

I love to do laundry. Well, kind of. The truth is, I can’t stand it when dirty clothes sit around the house; they kind of stink. Therefore, I do a lot of laundry.

I love my man. While I sometimes get frustrated that I have to do all the dishes right now, he still vacuums for me. That’s really nice of him.

P.S. I love him for a lot of other reasons, too.

Just sayin’.

I love that I don’t have to go grocery shopping again for awhile.

That’s a very good thing.

I love lounging around the house in sweats.

Someday soon I am going to have a wear-my-sweats-all-day day and not leave the house.

I love fall. But my toes are cold in flip flops.

I finally caved today and put on real shoes. It was quite sad.

I love looking back and smiling when I see all that He’ s done for u

s.

Life is just really, really good.

I love it.

Sig

Little Blessings (Pt. 8)

:) A little girl who finds great joy in pushing her stroller and shopping cart all over the house. She is easy to keep entertained.

:) Hearing her vocabulary just explode over the last two weeks. New words include baby, book, and…purse. Tear. I am so proud.

:) The Brewers clinched their division tonight.

I could care less about

baseball, but Brewers doing well = happy hubby. So definitely a blessing.

:) Finding ways to choose joy…and in choosing it, feeling it too. That’s cool. :)

:) A really thought-provoking video at Bible Study yesterday that I’ m still thinking about.

It? Was about choosing joy, too. God definitely knows what I need this week.

:) Making caramel apples with friends tonight for Pumpkin Days this weekend.

Fun.

:) Good hair. I am ALWAYS in

a good mood after a haircut.

:) Weekends and coffee.

:) Friends I love.

Sig

Little Blessings (Pt. 7)

:) Getting to sit down for the first time since noon.

(It’s almost 10 p.m.)

:) Iced coffee. Even better when it’s free.

:) My hubby rockin’ a bl

ack cast almost to his elbow.

It is as cool-looking as cast can be.

:) A faithful dog named Andre who is sitting by me,

giving me his sweet, puppy smile.

Oh, wait. I have a sandwich.

That’s why he’s sitting by me.

😉

:) Starting to feel a little better? This cold is kicking my butt.

:) Awesome friends and neighbors who are going way above and beyond friendship right now to help us finish the fence before we leave for vacation.

We love them and are so, so thankful for them.

(This blessing isn’t little. At all.)

:) Netflix streaming. Maelie loves Blues Clues. :)

:) Watching my daughter climb steps and go down a “big” slide by herself at the zoo today.

:) One of the best weekends I’ve ever had. Really. Even though Tob broke his hand. (It probably wasn’t his best weekend, though!)

:) Loving life.

Ummm…

On the way ho me,

I was trying to come up with a way to talk Tobin into blogging for me.

It’s time for a guest post, yeah

? :)

Then my dreams were completely squashed when I remembered that he can’t type.

So here I sit, trying to think of something interesting

I can possibly tell you that you will actually want to read.

Like the fact that I baked A LOT today. (I surpassed my 91 cupcake record…) What I baked is a surprise, though, so…sorry. I’ll tell ya later. :)

Or the fact that it’s 10 p.m. and I haven’t had dinner yet.

I may just skip it.

I’m so tired that I just want sleep.

Or that it’s September and almost time to put away the flip flops, and that makes me very, very sad. Almost depressed. I don’t whine about it too often, but I greatly dislike covering my toes.

Or that my daughter figured out how to use her slide tonight all by

herself. I heard it was cute, but I haven’ t seen her in ac

tion yet. Tomorrow. :)

Or that I’m really starting to look forward to vacation, minus the packing part. I always love seeing friends…it’ll be good.

Or that we have psycho raccoons living in our trees outside.

They throw acorns at us. Really.

Or that my manager at my new job swears that the place is haunted. Today I let my imagination take over and totally freaked myself out.

And I get to close two nights a week by. myself.

Ummm….

Yeah.

And with that, I think I’ve told you enough interesting facts about life.

For now. 😉

Thanks for reading.

I Could Tell You…

I am so tired

I can hardly see straight.

(I really should have had that espresso tonight…) The eyelids are Drooooo. Py.

I have, literally, been staring at a blank computer screen for over an hour.

At one point I called a friend just to give me a diversion. That, and I wanted to talk to her. :) We had a great, 20-minute conversation, and then it was back to the computer screen, blank and all.

I hate uninspired nights.

I don’t want to tell you about all the things hanging on my walls or what I ate today.

I don’t want to pretend I’m a unicorn or make a list of my favorite pizza toppings. And I definitely don’t want to post about how many words I DON’ T have right now.

Ugh.

I could tell you about Maelie’s new swimming pool that’s still in the box

in the garage. We bought her one on clearance this past weekend, and it’s huge. (Well, huge for a one year-old.) Twelve feet across and 30″ deep. Helllloooooooooo, pool party at Tobin and Mel’s next summer! Seriously, I’m half tempted to break it out once we get the fence up, but I doubt the water would even warm up before it would be time to take the pool down. So…bummer. We’ll have to wait nine long months before it’s warm enough to use it.

I could tell you about my daughter’s new obsession with stairs and how she climbs our (very steep) flight like a pro.

With one of us behind her, of course.

😉 On Sunday, my husband let her explore the stairs in the sanctuary after church, and everyone was treated to a temper tantrum when it was time to leave those fun steps.

Today at the park she climbed them several times on a piece of playground equipment that I think needs more safety bars. Is it just me or does 14 months seem a bit young to be climbing so much

?

Maybe her mama is just wishing she didn’ t like i

t so much!

I could tell you how many shots of espresso go into each drink at Firefly, but truthfully, I’ m still trying to re

member that! :)

And I could tell you how quick I made it home from work tonight, but I won’t. I think my speedometer might be off a tad.

I could tell you all of these things, but I think I’ll just tell you…

That some nights there are no deep, profound things to share.

So I’m going to crash and dream about… well, definitely not being a unicorn.

Thanks for reading, friends.

:)
