So every time I read a comment from you, I think, "I NEED to meet her. Like, SOON." I told my husband that one weekend, I'm just going to take the car and road trip to TN. Seriously, we should plan it...maybe this fall, once life slows down a little. We just need to have coffee. In real life. Love you, sweet friend! (And though I totally agree on the whole Nescafe thing, I DO have a stash of it here for those homesick days!) ;)

oh my goodness I so loved this post (as I love all your indonesia posts.. well all of your posts in general!) this made me SMILE..

My best friend in Nepal was also my housekeeper. I was the same as you.. I was not to excited about that fact (until I quickly realized how amazing and wonderful it was! and I miss it tons)

She was so much fun. Every morning when she would come in, after we became fast best friends (and we to had a hard time communicating.. but our favorite things were to laugh and laugh) I would brew her a cup of strong starbucks coffee (my friends were always kind to send me starbucks coffee because coffee in nepal was nescafe and that just would not do!)

She got addicted to coffee. We would sit that first hour, sip coffee and laugh.

I miss those days.
I miss her.

This post made me happy!

You can feel it in your words how much Indonesia meant to you and your friend Ibu S. Isn't the greatest gift of being a writer is that you can revisit the places you loved through your words? And I'm so glad you are sharing your time there with us so that we can experience it as well. Love you much, friend.
